PRSS Upgrades at Otay Mesa
Recently, we announced that we would be upgrading the PRSS at the Otay Mesa East Port of Entry. This popular U.S/Mexico border crossing has made strides in recent years to improve safety and security while reducing vehicle wait times.
The PRSS is designed to control vehicle traffic through the border. The current system is maintained exclusively by Mint Controls. The planned upgrades will make the PRSS more efficient by increasing communication and further reducing the chance of port runners.
PRSS Upgrades
Mint Controls plans to make a number of upgrades to the existing system. Planned upgrades include the replacement of electrical service panels, the communications pull box and all east side fiber cables. The upgrade will also include the installation of new spike strips and gates.
TiniFiber Installation
All fiber cables will be replaced with improved armored fiber known as TiniFiber. This fiber cable is rated for both indoor and outdoor use and allows for a much higher bandwidth frequency than unarmored fiber. Our technicians will use existing conduit and replace all current fiber.
New and Improved Spike Strips
The new spike strips provided by Mint Controls are more durable and more effective than previous models. Our spike strips come in two-foot sections. This allows us to cover a much larger surface area, eliminating the possibility of motorcycles escaping border patrol officers.
The spike strips include plastic tips. These tips will not break off or cause damage to anything under three hundred pounds. This increases safety for workers and animals around the port.
Quick and Easy Upgrades
The upgrades will be made using a programming server based system. This system is easy to configure and update. Changes that used to take days will take minutes with the new system.
All of these upgrades will be created first using advanced design 3D modeling. This allows us to create the test the system before installation at the site. Our technicians will continue to provide service and maintenance to the PRSS.
