Keeping Track of Trailers

August 28, 2020 By Carol Scheafer

Trucking companies often have hundreds of trailers. While some of these trailers remain sitting in truck yards or at customer locations, many others are actively used on the road to transport a wide range of goods. Although most trucking company owners believe they know how to properly track their trailers, most use a whiteboard or paper system to track them. This simply isn’t effective.

It’s not uncommon for trailers to go missing, costing trucking companies a significant amount of money.  In fact, losing just one trailer can cost the trucking company $10,000 or more. Sometimes, trailers go missing with goods inside. This obviously causes a much bigger problem, especially if these items belong to someone else. Because of the potential loss of both money and reputation, it’s crucial that trucking companies implement an effective trailer tracking solution.

GPS Trailer Tracking Device

Mint Controls offers cost trailer tracking GPS devices designed to monitor, record, and transmit information regarding GPS location, battery health and status, and data and time of impact. This data can help trucking company owners prevent theft, locate trailers quickly, identify speeding drivers, and determine if accidents occur.

The device attaches quickly and easily to trailers to provide a discreet tracking solution. Configuration of the device allows it to send alerts based on rules set by the trucking company. This might include when trailers sit idle too long, or if they travel beyond pre-determined geo-fences. Using our GPS Trailer Tracking Devices, trucking company owners can reduce theft and eliminate the chance of human error when tracking and recording trailer inventory. With our devices, trucking companies always know exactly how many trailers they have and where they’re stored.
