Waste management companies spend hundreds of thousands of dollars keeping litter off the streets. Each week, they send multiple trucks to pick up waste from homes around the city. Unfortunately, they send these trucks whether waste bins require pick-up or not. Sometimes, waste bins aren’t full. Citizens still put them out, and the truck comes and empties the bin, wasting time and money in the process.
Consider it takes a waste management truck 2 minutes to collect one bin. If one neighborhood has 50 homes and 25% of those homes have empty bins, the waste management company has now wasted 25 minutes of their time. This might not seem like a lot until you think about how many neighborhoods that truck visits in a week. Visiting just 30 neighborhoods wastes 750 minutes or 12.5 hours each week.
Fill Sensors Monitor & Report Waste Bin Fill Level
Mint Controls’ Fill Sensors attach easily to bins of all shapes and sizes. The Fill Sensor monitors fill level within the bin. It also monitors when the bin is tipped over or the lid left open. This information is transmitted daily to waste management teams. When collection time comes, waste management teams can review fill level data in each neighborhood and plan their routes accordingly. This not only saves time and money, it also helps keep traffic off the road, reducing CO2 emissions, traffic, and the number of accidents at busy intersections.
Mint Controls’ Fill Sensors provide reliable, accurate fill level data which can be used by cities and waste management teams to evaluate recycling initiatives. When fitted on each of three bins (waste, yard clippings, and recyclables), the Fill Sensor can report how much residents use each bin. This provides valuable data and insight into resident behavior.
When you work with Mint Controls, we work directly with you to evaluate your needs and develop a comprehensive solution. In addition to monitoring waste fill level, our Fill Sensors can also monitor temperature, helping detect and prevent trash fires in public places.
