Correctional Facility Security System Prevents Intruders & Escapes

November 15, 2019 By Carol Scheafer

Those responsible for managing correctional facilities must keep a close watch on all areas of the property. Improper monitoring can make it possible for people to enter the property undetected, bringing drugs, weapons, and other dangerous and/or illegal substances with them. Another common concern is that prisoners might escape, creating a safety hazard for the general public. It’s crucial that correctional facilities take the necessary precautions to prevent people from entering or leaving the property undetected.

Security Solutions

Mint Controls has years of experience providing effective security solutions utilizing IoT technology. Our solutions provide accurate monitoring of all areas and use predictive analysis to detect potential problems before they occur. The system sends automatic alerts directly to prison guards and/or management to notify them when people come within a pre-determined distance of the perimeter.

Mint Controls’ uses a rule-based system. Each facility we work with determines their own rules. Depending on the needs of the facility, zones are setup inside as well as outside of the perimeter. Entering each zone sets off a different reaction. For example, coming within 20 feet of the outside perimeter could activate cameras to follow the individual, zooming in on identifiable features. Once the individual reaches zone 2, around 10 feet from the perimeter, alarms begin to sound. At zone 3, typically right against the perimeter, the authorities are notified and security teams dispatched.

LiDAR Security System

Mint Controls’ security solution utilizes LiDAR technology to ensure nothing gets missed. Instead of typical security cameras, which only have a 120 degree view, our LiDAR system provides a 360 degree view of the space. The system uses artificial intelligence (AI) to rule out animals or windblown materials. This helps ensure accurate identification of potential problems.

Mint Controls works directly with each of our clients to develop a system that meets all of their needs and requirements. We offer a wide range of additional options and services including RFID badges and readers to ensure the system does not view correctional facility employees as threats.
