Tracking Paper Waste

August 16, 2019 By Carol Scheafer

Businesses create a lot of paper waste each day. This is especially true for businesses that must shred massive amounts of paper. Even with regular pickups, waste bins can overflow or become overfull. When waste bins under paper shredders become full, they can create a problem with shredding. In addition to making the machine less effective, too much paper accumulation in the gears or directly under the shredder increase the risk of overheating and fire. It’s important that businesses ensure the proper removal of paper waste in a timely and efficient manner.

Most companies do not have an efficient method for monitoring waste. These companies rely on employees to alert management when bins require emptying. Sometimes, waste management teams perform regular checks throughout the day. Most of the time bins get emptied whether they need it or not. This method wastes time and is often inefficient at preventing overflowing. This is because waste management teams do not know when additional waste is created. During periods of shredding, bins quickly become full.

Fill Sensors Ensure Timely and Efficient Waste Management

Mint Controls’ Fill Sensors monitor waste in every bin throughout the facility. These sensors constantly collect and report information regarding fill level, temperature, and tilt. They automatically alert waste management teams the moment bins reach a pre-determined level. This allows for quick and efficient management of waste.

By monitoring temperature and tilt, the system also allows management to address other issues such as overheating and tipped over bins. The sensor includes GPS for accurate and reliable tracking of all bins, even in large facilities with multiple floors.

Mint Controls’ Software allows staff and management to locate bins and view status quickly and in real-time from any device that connects to the Internet. This allows users to view and manage waste at any time from any location in the world.
