Monitoring Security in Large Spaces

November 2, 2018 By mcadmin

It’s extremely difficult to monitor activity in large spaces. Without proper monitoring, areas such as convention centers, concert halls, and educational institutes are left vulnerable to a wide range of security threats. When issues arise, owners of these spaces often have no way to identify the cause of the problem. It’s clear that event space managers need a better option.

Mint Controls understands the pressure that owners and managers of large spaces face when it comes to security. In today’s uncertain times, people need to feel safe and secure. They want to know what is being done to protect them.

Our Security Solution

Our security solution uses a combination of RFID, LIDAR, and HD surveillance cameras to detect potential security threats. The system locates potential issues and alerts management of a problem. This allows issues to be dealt with quickly before they can escalate into a much bigger problem.

High Definition (HD) cameras provide live video feed. Users can view activities and detect issues. Cameras provide the images needed to locate and prosecute criminals.

LIDAR, or light detection and ranging technology, uses light in the form of pulsed laser to measure the distance between objects. Self-driving vehicles use this technology. When used alone, LIDAR provides measurements, not images.  LIDAR monitors changes in an environment. These changes help detect unauthorized access or other issues that might otherwise go undetected.

When combined with HD surveillance cameras, LIDAR provides an effective monitoring system for large spaces. Users can view a 3D image of all objects within a space. Clicking individual objects instructs the system to follow them. This allows the user to track the activities of one or more individuals.

Radio-frequency identification (RFID) tags are small electronic devices consisting of a small chip and an antenna. These tags provide unique identification for an item. When embedded in identification cards, RFID tracks people as they move through a space. This is an effective solution for educational institutes and convention centers.

How it Works

Attendees carry cards equipped with RFID. RFID readers collect information from RFID tags, effectively tracking each person as they move about the facility.

When combined with LIDAR and HD cameras, RFID allows the user to identify each object tracked. This provides complete visibility, significantly reducing the chance of security threats.
