Making Waste Management More Efficient

May 15, 2020 By Carol Scheafer

For cities and states, managing waste creates major expenses and challenges. Most cities hire independent firms to collect all bins on a weekly basis. Unfortunately, waste management teams pick-up bins whether full or not. The time spent picking up bins that don’t require attention can add up significantly over time, costing cities a lot of money. In fact, cities often waste thousands of dollars each year paying for waste collection that doesn’t need to occur.

This isn’t just a problem for cities either. Businesses often struggle to know when dumpsters and other waste bins require attention. For shopping malls, amusement parks, convention centers, and other places where people gather, pick-up occurs at pre-scheduled times throughout the day. Organizations could save a lot of time and money simply by knowing which bins require attention and when.

Fill Sensors Provide Waste Management With Valuable Data

Mint Controls’ Fill Sensor attaches easily to any type of bin, regardless of size or material. These Smart Sensors use LiDAR technology to scan the level of waste in bins, dumpsters, and other waste containers. The data collected by the Sensor is fully analyzed by Mint Controls’ Software to determine which bins require attention. This information is then provided to waste management teams on their mobile phone or other device.

Using Mint Controls’ Fill Sensors, cities and businesses can learn which bins require pick-up. This helps prevent overflowing and eliminates unnecessary pick-ups. Over time, this can save organizations thousands of dollars while making waste management teams more effective.

Using the data provided on Mint Controls’ Software, waste management teams can plan the best route for pick-ups. The Software provides exact location and status of bins, making route optimization possible.

In addition to monitoring GPS location and fill level of dumpsters and other types of bins, Mint Controls’ Fill Sensor also checks for rising temperatures inside the bin. This can help prevent trash fires caused by excessive heat or lit cigarette butts thrown inside the bin.

Mint Controls’ Fill Level Solution provides an effective monitoring solution for cities and waste management teams. Please contact us for more information about this solution.
