Improving Data Access in Cities

December 20, 2019 By Carol Scheafer

Over the past few years, cities everywhere have started looking for smart ways to improve safety and livability for residents and visitors. Although much of the focus has been on smart devices such as fill sensors, smart bins, and smart street lamps, these systems can’t help improve the city without the right platform to stand on.

Lack of Data Access a Major Issue for Cities

One of the biggest issues facing cities today is the lack of access to actionable data. Police and other first responders typically use multiple systems to track data. Without a way to communicate with each other, these systems can cause confusion and waste a lot of time. Errors are common, and one oversight could cost an organization a lot of money. In the case of first responders, mistakes and/or lack of access to vital information could put officers or the general public in danger. A streamlined system helps keep everything in one place where users can quickly find exactly what they need, when they need it. Having instant access to data puts leaders and first responders in the best possible position to make informed, data-driven decisions. This makes cities smarter, safer, and more efficient.

Configuration & Integration of Dynamics 365 Business Central

Mint Controls provides configuration and integration of Dynamics 365 Business Central. This system provides an effective tracking and monitoring solution, useful to every department across the city.

Each city or department has the opportunity to decide the rules of the system and which users gain access to specific information. Integration with existing systems allows for communication and streamlines data. Connection to the Internet (IoT) enables predictive analysis, which allows the system to assess situations and locate potential threats.

Through configuration, Mint Controls’ team can set the system to send alerts when it detects potential problems. For example, the system can send an alert to the finance department if someone allows their business license or other permit to expire. This makes it possible to collect fees faster, generating more revenue for the city.

Mint Controls works directly with each of our clients to evaluate their needs and develop a comprehensive solution. Please contact us for more information about our services.
