Retail stores face a number of challenges when it comes to providing consumers with fresh produce. Fresh produce spoils quickly and satisfying consumer demand is challenging. Retailers require a solution that allows them to consistently provide consumers with what they want when they want it.
Vertical Farms Reduce Waste
Mint Controls understands the challenges that grocery store chains and other retailers face when it comes to produce. Retail stores throw out approximately $15 billion worth of produce each year. This is why we’ve developed a solution that completely eliminates waste.
Our smart vertical farms allow retailers to grow more crops in less space using fewer resources than traditional farming. Retailers that use our system can even alter crops to refine taste and texture. Our system automatically collects data. This data is carefully analyzed to improve efficiency and locate potential problems. The system continually “learns” from the data it collects.
Benefits of Vertical Farming
Vertical farming has numerous benefits. A vertical farm can produce stacks upon stacks of quality produce without the use of herbicides, insecticides, fertilizers, sunlight, or human intervention. Mint Controls’ vertical farms have dozens of crop cycles each year. This is different than traditional farms, which only have three. Our vertical farm uses 95% less water than conventional farms and creates absolutely no runoff. Vertical farming is better for the environment and more effective than any other type of farming used today.
How it Works
Our vertical farm consists of flat growing platforms, stacked up to ten levels high. LED lights provide UV rays and exposed roots are monitored by our sensors. When needed, the roots are automatically sprayed with just enough recycled water to adequately nourish the plant.
Human hands never touch the crops produced by our system. This eliminates the chance of human error and poor yield caused by bad weather, insects, or disease.
Our system allows retailers to grow fresh, organic produce on-site. The system takes up very little space. Growing on-site ensures that fresh produce is always available when you need it. Retailers can grow exactly what they need to fulfill consumer demand. This increases customer satisfaction and eliminates waste.
Growing on-site also eliminates the need to transport or store produce. This results in significant savings. Our system monitors its own health and sends automatic alerts to notify staff of potential problems. This allows staff to address issues sooner before they affect production.
