Are You Doing All You Can To Track Your Fleet?

September 18, 2020 By Carol Scheafer

Companies in the transportation and trucking industries often have hundreds of thousands of dollars invested in their fleet. Unfortunately, most of these companies don’t have the tools or resources needed to properly monitor and track their vehicles. It’s not uncommon for vehicles to go missing, leaving transportation company owners with no way to recover their loss. For companies with extremely large fleets, owners might not even realize when vehicles go missing.

Lost vehicles mean loss of revenue and additional expense as transportation and trucking companies must eventually replace these vehicles. Another issue, stolen or misplaced vehicles can be used to commit crimes. Although the owner of the vehicle might have nothing to do with the crime, they can still be held liable, especially if they haven’t reported the vehicle as stolen. It’s crucial that fleet owners implement a tracking solution that monitors vehicle location.

Compact Asset Tracking Devices Monitor Vehicle Location

Using small, discreet GPS Tracking Devices, fleet owners can quickly and easily locate multiple vehicles. The device provides GPS location and status several times per day. Fleet managers can view the data collected by GPS Trackers at any time from any device that connects to the Internet.

The small size of the GPS Tracking Device allows fleet owners to hide the device from view. This reduces the chance of thieves removing the device. Fleet owners can locate stolen vehicles quickly and provide real-time information to police regarding vehicle location and distance traveled.

GPS Tags Increase Accountability

Many transportation and trucking companies allow multiple drivers to drive each vehicle. When accidents occur, it may be difficult to determine the party responsible unless the driver reports it immediately. In addition to GPS location, the Tracking Device records and reports the exact date and time of impact. This may prove especially beneficial when trying to determine accountability for accidents. Fleet managers can simply check which driver had the vehicle at the time the impact occurred.

GPS Tags also allow fleet managers to view driving patterns. This helps determine whether drivers stop for long periods of time or deviate from their route. Over time, this solution saves transportation and trucking company owners a considerable amount of money.
